  Indiginous Pipe Ceremony

  Daniel Bissell, Biiwabko Bezhgoognzhii (Iron Horse), a Veteran of the U.S. Navy and carries the Vern Bissell Memorial K.I.A. (Killed in Action) Eagle Staff. Dan was born in Manitowoc Wisconsin and is one of six children born to Capt. John Bissell WWII Navy Veteran and a retired Car ferry Captain and his Ojibwa mother, the late Theresa LaBlance. He is Fish Clan and a member of the Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
 
  Dan is a Traditional Dancer and has been Pow Wow dancing since he was 13, this is over 51 years now. He has served the Pow Wow Community by being Head Veteran, Head Dancer along with his wife, Master of Ceremonies and Arena Director.
   
  For the past 41 years Dan has worked as a molder at Great Lakes Castings. He is a member of the UAW. He has served as Sgt. at Arms, Union Stewart, Veterans Committee Chairman, and Union Label Chairman. He also served on the Bargaining Committee. Dan is a Traditional Dancer and has been Pow Wow dancing since he was 13, this is over 51 years now. He has served the Pow Wow Community by being Head Veteran, Head Dancer along with his wife, Master of Ceremonies and Arena Director.
   
  Dan lives in Ludington Michigan with his wife of the Aniyunwiya, Elizabeth Caldwell-Bissell, Biidassaga Geesis Kwe (Shines Through Sun Woman) of the Crane and Eagle Clans. She is a retired Substance Abuse Counselor and volunteers her time where needed. Elizabeth has been dancing for 24 years now and is a Traditional and Medicine Dress Dancer.
   
  The Creator has gifted Dan with the ability to be a Traditional Dancer, Pipe Maker, Stone and Wood Carver, Quillwork Art, and Beadwork Art
   
  The Creator has gifted Elizabeth with being a Traditional and a Medicine Dress Dancer. Elizabeth also makes cloth and Buckskin Regalia. Beadwork, Jewelry-making and other Native Crafts have been a sustaining outlet for her for many years. Cooking has also been a love of hers. She sings with a Hand Drum and Dan and she play and sing together sometimes.
   
  Dan and his wife Elizabeth design and construct most of their own Regalia. They often work together on projects. They also grow sacred plants on the land where they live.
